Since the beginning of April I am in Brisbane, first week doing a dogsit and since that I am in the green house. Thats how I call the place of the catsitting I am doing at the moment, because its surrounded by lush greenery, nature and birds. Through every window you can see green leaves and branches slowly swinging in the wind, the sunlight that pierces through the trees, creating a piece of art in different shades of green. short: I love it.
It is so peaceful. On the first day I cleaned and rearranged the balcony so that now it is my yoga balcony.
There is an outdoor sofa, on which the cats are always sleeping, so every morning the three of us start the day on that balcony together. Me doing meditation and yoga, the cats sleeping, getting cuddles from me and licking their fur for hours.
Besides the catties, there are also a lot of birds that come every day and sometimes they can be very pushy, as they are also used to get fed by the owner of this house. So I feed them as well: like 5-6 kookaburras, 2 raven, maybe 4 Turkeys, some Magpies and small ones that even fly into the house and sit on your chair.
So yeah very naturey, even though there is a big road close by that you can always hear and it is about 25mins from the city center by bus.
I met a friend in the yoga teacher training that lives here in Brisbane and I was soo happy that we met again. It is always a funny thing when you get to known to someone in a different country and somehow some weeks, months, sometimes years later, you meet them again in their home or vice versa. She did a housewarming and we had a super fun and intense night.
On some days I would go there and stroll around or check out Brisbane. What I really love is, that besides the buses they have boats that take you around on the river that goes through the city. You tap on and off with your bus card as usual but its so much nicer with the sun, water and wind to go to the center.
Before I started this sit, I knew I am going to have a lot of time alone in that house so I set myself intentions, how I want to use that time. I wanted to do a lot of yoga, find a gym to go to, do creative things like drawing and writing, read and enjoy time with myself, as well as commit to find a job. So thats basically what I did.
Since I arrived in Aussieland I wanted to work on a farm, just to earn money and as a part of the experience to be here. After all this time that I am here, I finally found out how to get in contact with farms in all Australia and I sent 80 applications.
Thats how I got a job now to pick strawberries close by Brisbane, starting hopefully in the first days off may. Meaning also my life of leisure comes to an end and I will work a lot. So far I am actually really excited and looking forward to that, even though I am aware that it will be challenging.
I am not sure how long I will be on the farm, I am planning min. one month. My actual goal since I came to Australia was to go to Byron Bay and just be there and somehow I still didn't made that. Also I don't know how much of that I can still do, as I am planning to go back to europe at some point for european summer. Lets see.
