Closing of my last 6 months of traveling

I'm writing this text while my plane which brings me "home" is rolling onto the runway. (And my parents don't even know who's standing in front of their door soon- they think I'll be back in 6 months).

"Home" in quotes, because I'm not quite clear on the definition of this word. When I think of home, I think of the streets of Barcelona. Because for me, Barcelona is and remains my home. Of course, when I think of home, I also think of my family. My parents, my aunt, my brother, my nieces. The craving for exploring and adventure lead me to this travel around the world and with it to unforgettable moments. It also reminded me of how much I value and love my family.

In the last few months I have also learned that home for me is a place where I feel free, loved, connected to nature, explorative, and childlike. This year Jeffreys Bay was my home. Mauritius felt safe and homey. And in Sri Lanka, I would have loved to stay even longer.

Taking these things into consideration, I realized: the feeling of arrival, comfort and serenity that "home" triggers is not connected to a specific place. Home is the people that surround you.

No matter how beautiful a beach, a waterfall, the top of a mountain, the jungle or a city may be, what makes my memory of a place one of the happiest memories is the people who shared those moments with me.

And that is why I have always had the dream of traveling. Meeting new people and experiencing together how damn beautiful our planet is. Connecting with soulmates and travel together after a short time that you know each other.

I am on the way "home" and feel gratitude flood my body. Grateful for the last months and that I have the possibility to do this at all. Grateful now to return for a while and feel my other "homes" again. Grateful to know that I can leave again at any time on my next journey.
